Tap your own square to hit it — tap a colour in it to pick who gets it.
Four squares, one bomb, and it may bounce once in your square before you hit it back. Bounce twice and it goes off on you — so you drop to the bottom and everybody who was below you moves up.
When you hit it decides how hard. The ring on the floor closes onto the bomb's shadow as it comes down, and it lights up while a good hit is on — so press while the ring is lit.
Press just after the bounce for a slog, hard and fast. Press before it bounces for a header, faster still. Press late and it floats — exactly what everyone else is waiting for.
While the bomb is coming at you, your square turns into a little map of the court, with everybody else's corner in their colour. Tap a colour to send it to that person — where you tap picks who, and when you tap picks the kind of hit. Tap your own plain corner and you just push it away from you. On your own, you can also tap straight into their real square.
Only the King scores, and the three crowns painted in the King's square are how close they are. Win three rallies in a row as King and you win the match; lose while you are King and the crowns wipe.
Two to four of you can play on one screen. Everyone taps their own square, so when the ladder changes you swap places round the screen — and the next serve waits until everybody with a new square has tapped it. On a laptop everyone takes a letter instead, and your letter follows you round the ladder, so nobody moves. A letter cannot aim: it pushes, along the dashed line.
